Default Injector cleaning and spray pattern question

It's a 1986 240 dl... I have a miss, number 4 cylinder not working, great spark on new spark plugs. I pull each connection at the injectors, 1-3 makes a big difference in engine opperation, no change on #4. Swapping #4 wires to #1 injector makes #1 injector work. #1 wires on #4 injector and still a dead #4.

I have pulled the spark plug out of the #4 cylinder and tested it great spark. It has to be the #4 injector clogged right?

I know I have to pull the fuel rail and replace the seals where the injectors seat in the manifold. I have the seals on order and they might make here tonight, local pparts house likes me! My question is have people had luck cleaning these injectors? Is there a good spray test write up? Is there any thing else I should think about before pulling things apart?

Pulling injectors is child's play. Unplug the 4 injectors, remove the 3 10mm bolts, loosen the fuel lines and fpr vac line and remove it. Old seals stick so be careful not to bend the rail. Most shops will clean an injector for 12-15 bucks. They will remove the internal screen, clean it or replace it and leak/flow test it. Or, you could just go to the JY and get a couple of used ones. They don't fail often. In fact, I probably have some yellow tops laying around here at the shop I'd send ya for cheap...I have no use for n/a injectors so they accumulate...

Thanks for the reply... But I really would like to hear from someone who has refurbished their own injectors, I guess. I have had much luck with cleaning and testing injectors for VW, Audi, and Porsce(I only have experince with the 924 and 944) I would have to guess these will be reasonably the same. But I would love to hear the skinny from someone in the Know.

Thanks in advance for any tips!
