Instrument Panel Toggle Switches

Hello folks. Can I use pre-1989 instrument panel toggle switches on a 1989 Volvo 240 DL wagon? Some of the old switches used words, instead of symbols. I like that better. Thanks. David.

AFAIK, they are all the same size. Find a junkyard, if you can, and try it out, but I'm pretty sure it's the same.
