intank fuel pump

RE: intank fuel pump
I don't have step by step but I changed the one in my 91 240. If you have a similiar model then it's as simple as running the tank down to about the quarter mark. Remove the cover plate at the forward left side of your trunk, disconnect the electrical connector, remove the fuel lines at the top of the sending/pickup unit, use a brass drift or screw driver to rotate the lockring counterclockwise. Just tap on the brass drift or screw driver with a hammer while rotating the lockring. Once the lockring is loose remove the whole assembly gently. Take care to gently remove the unit because the float ball can come off as your trying to remove it and that wouldn't be good. Once you have everything out it's just a matter of removing the old pump and install the new one. It will be basic once you get the assembly out and very straight forward.
