Default Interchangeable ECU?

I have a 1989 740 Turbo. Quit running in 2007. Replaced Coil, Distributor, Cap, Rotor, Injectors, Fuel Pump, Relays, oxygen sensor. Still does not run. Mechanic thinks it's the ECU. I have an ECU from a 1988 240 - Bosch Jetronic 0280000544 - will this work on my 740 turbo?

Find a mechanic that wants to diagnose the issue, not keep spending your money.
There could be dozens of things producing a no start........."seems to think" is not worth spending money on.

Regards, Andrew.

let us know if it works...even partially...I wonder if it will short out something?

the 240 gathers info from:
O2 sensor
injectors
idle valve
throttle switch
and other components....
I don't know if the connectors are the same? Do they look the same? ECU COMPARED TO THE OTHER ECU?
If they weren't turbos it would be easier I would think....

That computer won't work, You have an 89 which is a 2.4 and a 544 is a 2.2 ecu... Can you see if you are getting a pulse at the injectors?
