Default Interior code ID

Does any one know of a website where you can enter a VIN number and find out what the interior code is? I'm trying to locate some interior pieces at nearby pick n pulls and they won't tell you the code over the phone.

No such website. Volvo MAY be can tell you, BUT what's the issue? There are probably only, what, 3 or four possibilities: beige, black, grey, blue and red in earlier 740s if memory serves...

Actually, there is. There's at least 3 kinds of gray. Twice now I've had to return some molding because it was a lighter shade. And yet the exterior paint(and code) was identical. I've also noticed different materials used for headliners in the same year. I think the Swedes we're a little too creative when it came to picking colors.

Headliners are many times replaced on these cars, I see all kinds of variations, many pretty poor. Never seen a bad one after 1991 model.

As far as color shades of interior plastic, I think they are just that, various issues that were not intended to be different but keep in mind that these cars were essentially designed in the '60s and just gradually improved. Perfection on such issues may seem the norm today but was not pursuit then, and that is a good thing in my book--the things that mattered are fine.

Just did a little research and, yes, for my 1993 940 there we're 3 different greys used. The interior code is a 4 digit number and the last 2 numbers describe the color. For grey they we're 71(dark), 75(medium) and 77(light). When you mix and match they stick out like a sore thumb(like a cheap paint job). I'll just have to keep looking.

OK, I stand corrected then.

What parts exactly are you having a problem with matching shades? I have rebuilt about twenty 940 interiors and never worried by the shades; mostly greys, as the beige usually are beyond repair as far as seat leather is concerned.

I need the left and right vertical molding that's between the doors and has the seatbelt go thru it - part no. 17 in the first photo.

And I need the driver's side horizontal molding - part no. 22 in the 2nd photo. My interior code is 6971.

..and if I could find new skins for the front, leather seats I'd be insanely happy.
