hint, best brakes I ever had on my 740T wagon were Akebono pads and rotors.... And I drove that thing pretty hard.

Well, the Arc Audio came in. Set the gains for the fronts and sub using a DD-1. Unfortunately, the amp was giving too much power to the kicker sub I had thrown in there, so I unplugged it and put the big dog in there.

Today the kid got a quote for a new exhaust. The baffles in the muffler are all bouncing around and rattling. It's the original muffler.

He is having the resonator and cat removed (no emissions testing for cars over 20 years old in NH), and a high flow muffler installed, with a tasteful tip to end it, straight out the back. He's paying for this one, all stainless.

Next after this is suspension, can and timing - but that's in the spring.

Well, it's a good thing the car is getting its exhaust today - the muffler fell off Saturday night.

So I have been playing around with sub enclosures. I built a new box for that huge JL 12W3V2-D2 sub with the same airspace, but different shape. We set it up to fire up at the hat shelf, and it rattled the **** out of everything.

This was temporary because I got my hands on an old school JL "Micro Sub", a half pipe style box that was preloaded with 3 - JL 8W6 subs - but they were all in disrepair. I have set those subs aside to repair (re-cone and re-foam) and reconditioned the box itself. I need a lot more practice at carpeting though. I loaded it with some cheap 8" subs, and wired them in series to get a 2.66 ohm load (the amp is 2 ohm stable)

I'm still trying out different positions for the sub - I'm probably going to add some "feet" to the box to make downfire. These Skar subs really impressed me for the price point.

Besides audio, right now the kid is saving up to do the suspension. The rear looks pretty saggy, especially on the driver's side. He want's the BC Coilovers, but I don't know how to weld. I was thinking he should just get new shocks/struts and lowering coils. Suggestions?

Hahahaja. I started him with Umphries McGee Miami Virtue, moved to Freak on a Leash, and then Phish's First Tube. After that, he's on his own.....

Quick update. The kids has been busy doing little things here and there. He completed the Solenoid delete and put new window scrapers in - with no help from the dad. Glad he is taking ownership.....
