A little advice on where to go next?
so my87' volvo 245dlhas been working well for the past 6 months (a new record!)
but unfortunately, she had to be put back on the tow truck whenI couldn't get her to start.
That problem is fixed now. $600 and a new fuel pump. A complete rip off. [:@][:@][:@]
Anyways, the problem i'm having now is I think I have a clog in the fuel lines somewhere. I inherited the car with 225,000 miles. I of course wanted to do everything I could do to make it better, but in my stupidity I put in additives into the fuel tank. All this fuel system cleaner, and fuel injector cleaners. They must have done their job, but in doing so shocked the system. I think they must have formed essentially rocks - big carbon build ups while trying to remove it from the system. Recently when I drive the car, it won't get above 30mph. The car feels like its not getting enough gasoline. Thats the first reason I believe its a clog. The 2nd is that when I let the car sit for half an hour, she runs again fine. So i'm thinking of flushing the fuel lines. Does anyone have any experience with this or think this is a good idea with my problem? any precautions?
Thanks in advance, Patrick

RE: A little advice on where to go next?
These cars have two fuel pumps, you had the main replaced. There is also an 2th pump in the fuel tank, this one feeds the main one.The car will run with an bad intank fuelpump, but badly.Need to check replace fuel pump relay, was that check???look at the date if over 10 years replaced .The relay will act like that, its under the glove box .Check for Vac leaks, crack hoses, crack intake hose,Unplug the AMM if it runs better thats you problem. Is the engine wireing falling apart? The main 25 amp fuse on the finder, gets wet will cause problems.Check it out .

well it was weird...the first thing they did was "jiggle" the fuel pump relay, and the car started. So I took it home, free of charge (after a 15 minute argument with the mechanic). but after I got home, I let the car sit for about an hour and instantly the same problem. I had to get it towed a second time. That time they changed the exterior fuel pump. The fuel pump relay isn't cheap...I don't want to change it if I don't need to. Are you sure it says the date on it? I use the Haynes manual, I'll probably get around to picking up bentley.
