M47 (5-speed) Shift Lever - How Do I Take It Apart?
Hey all,
Brand new to this forum. I have a '91 Volvo 244 with the M47 5-speed manual, and I'm trying to replace the upper ball cup bushing to reduce some of the slop. I got the bottom cup bushing easily enough by pulling the whole lever, but it seems like to do the upper one, I'll first have to separate the lever (the cup won't slip past the reverse lock-out collar).
Has anyone done this before? It seems like there's a dowel pin toward the bottom of the chrome part of the shift lever; I imagine that's what joins the two main pieces? It seems like a stubborn mule, though...
Thanks in advance.
