Default maintenance

so I'm going to replace the fuel pump in my 88 740. I am also going to do some basic maintenance that it needs, fluid change, oil change, filter change.

is there anything important that comes to mind from volvo owners to do at 290,000 miles to get better results from my 740 in performance (not like race performance, but reliable get up and go car for work and school) and also to get better gas mileage?

Default RE: maintenance

DISCONNECT BATTERY, Check the sock on the end of the fuel pickup, if it fails it allows crap to flow to the expensive main pump, so replace sock before you play with main pump.. Becareful not to break the wires going to the intank prepump. Put your careful hat on around fire starter.
