Default My dad's 1994 940 - oil exploding out of turbo- part 2

I already posted out my 94 940 turbo exploding oil out of the turbo area. This mechanic in my city is telling me it was 4 qts over on oil???? This is why I had the smoke and oil every where? See to Mee that makes no sense. Would to much oil do this ? And if so would I still need to redo all the gaskets and seals?

1st how was it overfilled by 4 quarts. The answer is yes overfilling the oil can cause massive problems even to the point you can blow the engine. If you fill with the correct amount of oil will the engine run.

By letting stupid ppl drive and you get your car back with an empty jug of oil in the back seat.

too much oil can happen if gas has leaked into the crankcase, diluting the oil. if coolant gets into the oil, you get this yellow whipped cream under the oil cap

of course, if you kept dumping quarts of oil into the engine, it can happen that way, too,.

too much oil in the engine often causes the camshaft and/or valve cover seals to blow

OK 1st clean the oil up in the engine bay. Drain the old oil and change the filter. Add the correct amount of oil. Also what color is the old oil and if it is a milky brown you have bigger problems. Check the coolant tank and see if there is an oil film on the coolant. With all of that done and checked start the engine and see if it runs correctly. Tell us what you have.

^^

With a cold engine, spray all the oily stuff down with Gunk foaming engine cleaner, scrub it with a brush, let soak, scrub again, let soak, hose off. after doing the oil change as jag' suggests, check every day for more leakage, so you can see where its coming from.

the way its all on the underside of the turbo, evenly coated, almost looks like it was sprayed on there. about the only way I could see oil spraying 'up' onto the underside of the turbo would be if it was coming from the oil filter area below/behind the turbo.
