MYSTERY 1: Power windows Issue 1990 740
Mysteries: Yesterday with no warning all 4 windows in the sedan failed to work.
Checked fuse - Its good.
Checked Relay.. got two REPLACEMENT relays from junk yard and both of them failed to fix it. (sidenote: the original and the two junkyard relays all get warm-- is that normal)?
Got repalcement drivers door switch at junkyard and that failed to fix it
Got volt meter and confirmed there is power leading into the Drivers door WINDOW LOCK switch. I thought that might be the problem because my theory was that if the actual lock switch is broken in the closed position then all four windows would fail to open.
I am now stuck. I am SURE that the motors of all four windows did not fail simultanously. I am sure the FUSE is good. I suppose its "possible" I have three bad relays. But the odds are in my favor I got it right.
Can some generous older volvo wiring enthusiast give me a hand here. The windows are stuck in the up position. The temperature outside was 85 yesterday. And to make things even worse I am starting another mystery thread in this forum in regards to the VENTS will not blow any air inspite of having a brand new blower motor installed.
Please NOTE; I ahve been working on getting the the car cleaned up the past week. I pulled the glove box and repalced the blower motor. The nigt before the windows went out I have all the wires around the ECU computer out from the kick panel. I shoeved them all back in. It was after this the windows failed. (Could this be related at all?)
So its HOT in the car for sure and my daughter really needs this vehicle.
THANKS in advance for the assistance to trouble shoot these mysteries.
