Default Mystery Oil Fitting? B230F

Hey everyone,

I've only owned my 240 for a year now, and as you might know you learn something new everyday. Well today I've stumped myself.

While I was changing my oil I noticed the lower passenger side of the engine was moist with oil and to my surprise I think I found out why. I found a hose fitting without a hose, while it doesn't pour out oil when the engine is running it is certainly wet.

The problem is, I don't know what it is... my teardown manuals don't show me what I'm looking at. The fitting is on the passenger side of the block, near where the transmission bolts onto the engine. Is it some type of oil return?

**Photos** Taken from underneath the engine. The fitting is outlined in pink, there are two photos to show what it looks like. I have an 89 B230F with an M47.

I hope someone can help me out,

Thank you.

That's the block coolant flush fitting... you hook a hose to it, open it up, drain the block.

Yes like lev said, block coolant flush fitting......I have an older Volvo and the fitting is not a fitting like yours, mine is a square screw.

I THINK YOUR OIL IS COMING FROM THE VALVE COVER FULL CIRCLE PLUG AT THE BACK OR
VALVE COVER GASKET OR THE COOLANT FLUSH FITTING IS LEAKING....TEFLON TAPE ON THE FITTING AND RE-SCREW.
