Smile Ne Member, New (old) Volvo, New Timing Belt

Hi All!

I am seriously considering he purchase of a very nice 1992 240. Decent paint (no clear coat or fading), No rust at al, immaculate interior (might have been redone it is so perfect), great ties, tight steering. It has a slight miss -- or so says the seller, to me it was fine but he's been driving it more obviously -- so wold this be a timing belt issue? Something else? What is the worst case scenario? I can pick it up for $1500. Thanks!

A miss is unlikely to be t belt related... Hopefully not a burned valve (worst case scenario).
Great "ties"? What is that?

So I guess that would mean a valve job? Not cheap I assume.

"slight miss" could mean absolutely anything, or nothing. We can't tell you without a LOT more info.

I totally understand -- I was just looking for possibilities and worst case scenarios.

Bad plugs , wires , cap , rotor , vacuum leak , injectors and more. I would list burnt valve at the bottom of the list.

So do you think it's worth $1500? I thought it ran totally fine actually.

Also the a/c system has been converted with all Volvo parts to run 134a -- although it appears to need an evacuation and charge.

Default ne volvo

I would go for it, in fact I did a couple of months ago I bought a '92 in as nice condition as you describe. My daughter and wife love it...I hardly ever get to drive in anymore.
