Default Need a radiator for a 940

Just when I though I had a break after installing new tires, inner strut rods, ball joints, misc. bushings, spark plugs and wires, ICM, thermostat and hoses, I now discover that I need a new radiator. The one I have now is a metal one but those are no longer made, as some of you already know, so I am going to have to go back to a plastic one. I would like to know is there is a certain brand and place that I should buy it from. I have thought of having it repaired since it is metal/brass but it is probably not worth the hassle or expense. The current radiator has between 60-80 thousand miles.

if you can find a real old school radiator shop that knows how to do brass radiators, I'd fix it unless its totally gone.

otherwise, you're pretty much stuck with the plastic tanked aluminum cored Nissen radiators that Volvo sells. I know someone who went through 3 of these, brand new, before they got one that didn't blow in the first month (

note btw, 1991 940's used a different smaller radiator than 1992+ 940's, and 92+ turbos are a different radiator than non-turbos.. I see in your .sig you have a 94, but I thought I'd throw that out there so you don't get surprised.

I found a couple of places that have metal radiators that fit exactly like the OEM. It might be better to get one of those than the plastic ones that everybody carries.

brickrunner, where exactly?

IPD used to have a volvo 240 all brass radiator, but no more. I bought one of the last ones from them for our 240. these had been custom made by an American radiator maker to IPD's specs.

The manufacture is CSF and the model is 2099. If you google csf2099 it will show you a list of the places that sell them. JC Whitney is one of them. It seems to fit the 940's but I am not sure if the 240's use a different radiator configuration.
