Default NEW Guy Gas leak tank Questions etc 740 wagon

I've owned Saabs for a decade or more - finally bought a '92 740 wagon with +/- 300k on it.

I filled up with gas today and was surprised by a pool of gasoline dripping from under the car which I assume is caused by a separation where the filler tube meets the tank - It didn't do it until the tank was completely full so the tube itself may be cracked ...

Do I need to drop the tank to fix this ? Is it fixable or should I source a second unit ?

Is the sedan and wagon tank the same ?

Are sedan and wagon rear passenger doors the same ? PO had a run in with a Semi and the lug nuts did a number on the door and the wheel well.

Is there a fix for the rear hatch interior door panel - it appears the screws holding it to the hatch have broken and now it flaps and rattles and makes considerable racket.

Otherwise it's a great car.

I think the rear doors are the same between sedans and wagons, but I won't bet on that.

depending on where the leak is coming from depends on whether or not you'd need to drop the tank.

wagons and sedans have different tanks.

the rear hatch inside panel isn't held on by screws (other than the 1/4 turn plastic fasteners along the bottom), but they are notorious for cracking and rattling with age. IPD sells a kit for repairing the mounts, but depending on how broken yours is, it may or may not be useful. 'butyl tape' can fix a lot of rattles, but be careful where you put it as it turns into this nasty black goo which gets on everything that touches it.

Default Thanks for the feedback

I've been poking around here for a few weeks and read a number of your posts, thank you. I would not have had Saabs for so many years were it not for the message boards .
Thanks again
Christian
