T5 2.3 New turbo, where to buy new downpipe? And other questions about fuel jets etc.
Hello, decided to make a new topic about this.
So i bought T5, driven 250tkm. Running original 15G turbo.
Its leaking oil to exhaust, so i bought a new turbo.
My new turbo is TD04-16T
Only problem is, that new turbo is with angled flange, 15G is with straight flange right?
So my downpipe doesnt fit.
I been searcing ebay, USA sited etc, NEVER was able to find downpipe. Or if i found it, it costed like 500 euros lol...
So what i should to do? Mod the STD downpipe, is it possible?`Does it reduce my power? Im gonna fit Simons 2.5 catback system too when i change the turbo.
my car is working fine with a turbo change right? So it will run? I mean it doesnt need any programming to work. Works with default fuel jets when its not chipped yet right?
Im gonna take it to some company who can chip and tune the ECU and turbo pressures.
And are the 395cc blue fuel jets good opinion when i bring the car to Chipping?
Thanks

Just to help you with verbage...we dont 'Chip' our cars, we get the ECU's tuned.
Most people that buy the OBX systems end up with an extra down pipe. Search ebay for someone selling theirs. Honestly you should hold onto that angled flange and search for a downpipe for it since it will give you the best flow.

Okay so if i get my ecu tuned.
Are the STD fuel jets enough?
Matty: i know you responded to this already, but i wanna hear some other opinions too And im not sure did you mean i can run std fuel jets without ecu tune or even with ecu tune too.
Or should i buy 2nd hand 395cc bosch jets? I could get them cheap.
Im not gonna buy them if there is no need for that or power increase.

YOUR STOCK INJECTORS ARE PLENTY BIG ENOUGH FOR A 16T!!! The 16t is almost identical to the 15g only difference it the compressor wheel on the 16t is a tiny bit bigger and bit lighter. You can get a good tune at ardideas.com get red or green which ever one you want and those injector will be fine to run up to 16-17psi. The angle flange exhaust housing will flow alot better thats what you should run. Check volvospeed in there for sale section i believe there is a obx downpipe for your angle flange exhaust housing.

I may have missed it but what year is your 850 ??
If it's a 94 or 95 with a stock 15 turbo the housing is the dreaded conical and very restrictive.
If it's a straight flange then yes you can just mount your old exhaust housing on the 16 and away you go.
Getting a bigger downpipe at some point would help you get more out of the bigger turbo.
Would also be helpful if you entered your location in your profile. That way someone who has what you need might see they are close enough to send it to you.
In the first picture the conical is the one on the left. The flange is actually like part of a ball and the pipe is flared at the end like a "bell" to fit over it. The straight flange is just flat and bolts "face" to "face" with a flange on the end of it's downpipe. As you can see the straight flange is a larger ID and will pass more air easier and with less restriction.
Second picture the angled one is on the left, straight in the middle and conical on the right. You can see a big difference between the angled outlets inside diameter and the conicals.

Thank you for the info!
My t5 is 1995 model
i live in finland
I ended up buying Ferritta 3 inch downpipe including race cat, because i got it cheap.
Only problem is, that its with straight flange...
What kind of modifications i have to do to downpipe to get it fit with angled system? Is it hard? Do i need some separate 3 inc pipe for that work?
Other opinion is, that i take the straight flange from my old 15g turbo.
If im using my old exhaust side from the 15g turbo to get the straight flange, am i losing power for that?
So 2 options:
I use the angled flange exhaust side, i have to mod my downpipe to fit
I use my old 15G:s exhaust side, i get straight flange. But what kind of power losses?
Regards
