Default Gas Tank Smell/Leak

So I got a CEL throwing code P0440 which is Evaporative Emissions failure so after reading I figure it's my leaking gas tank and/or 14 year old gas cap..

I just ordered a gas cap that fcp and ipd sells for $20, after looking around, got the same one for ~$14 shipped.

Then called the dealer for the hose prices ~$35 which i'll pass on and follow a decent writeup online with a generic fuel hose.

I've seen only one writeup on MVS and i'd like to know if there are anymore regarding what fuel hoses to pick up from the parts store.

Hopefully replacing these hoses will cure my intermittent part to WOT stutter.

If anyone has previous experience i'd appreciate the input.

Just got a ipd/fcp equivalent gas cap, will change the hoses underside above the tank later and see what's up.

Mine had a fuel coming from underneath I found 2 spots where vapor lines were broken! One was just under/ behind the fuel filter the other was passenger side where it comes over the back side of the sub frame repaired with vacuum line! No more fuel smell!!

When I fill my tank, it gushes fuel from the top, and I can almost see the tear where the hose is breached.

Oh ok. One of the hoses on top if the tank? That won't be too fun! Good luck!

Is this a 94 850 by any chance?
Believe it or not about 2 months ago I got a recall notice from Volvo America that said a bushing or something can cause a leak in the gas tank. It said that a Volvo dealer would repair it or replace the tank if necessary AT NO COST! I am at least the 3rd owner and can't believe they tracked this vet down. Anybody else get one of these? Mine seems to be fine.

97 850, working on that shizite tomorrow so i'll let yall know. When I just got the car, the first thing I did was go to the dealer and inquire about the recalls pertaining to my car.

I was told there's nothing they can do so almost a year later I decide to finally get around to it after completing the most important maintenance items first among other things.
