Default New here, couple questions

Greetings from the Great Pacific Northwest

Just bought my fist Volvo yesterday- an '84 240 Wagon. You can see it below.
I'm diggin it. Sure beats the hell out of the '97 Chrysler that committed suicide on the freeway about a week ago.

But, it's got a couple issues which were not apparent to me when I bought it.
The most pressing being that the rear passenger side turn signal won't work. Replaced the bulb today, and that wasn't the problem. What's weird is that when I put the car in reverse, that one turn signal light comes on instead of the backup lights. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Other than that, its pretty much aesthetic/convenience things. One of the doors only opens from the inside, and another only opens from the outside.
I'm cool with that, as long as this beautiful block will get me around town. So please, help a brother out!

Thanks

Is this an automatic or manual tranny? The backup light switch is different.
