IMO I'd stick with your original plan, a well maintained daily driver. You're in Orange County Ca, ground zero for the Volvo worshiping PC crowd who will pay five times what you did for the car... stock. Then there's a ton of gear heads up in LA that will sell you two beater Volvos that have already been tricked out. (not much resale for home made V8s in LA that won't pass emmissions).
