New Member, First Car, Model Type help?
Hey,
I am new to the forum and just bought my first car which is a 1980 Volvo GL Sedan... the only problem is, I don't know what model it is. I have looked for markings on doors and the body to see if it says anywhere, but I can't find out. I was hoping some of you could tell me. It is a Manual car, has a crank sun roof, B21F engine and it says Volvo GL on the back. I am leaning towards a 240 or something. I need to find out because I need to buy some parts for it.
I attached a couple pictures to help you identify the car.
Thanks all ye fellow Volvomen.

New Volvo owner
Hey Melvin- Good for you! Car looks nice! I'm a tightwad cheapscate and rarely hire out a repair on my old vehicles. Something about spending $1000 to fix a $900 car really disagrees with me. If you are able, invest some $ on some basic tools. and a simple floor jack. You'll use it for years. Get cheap stuff now and get nice tools in 10 years or so. I still use some of the chineese wrenches I bought in High School (early 80's) Your sense of independence will be intoxicating. And get towing on your insurance. I always figured if I REALLY screw something up, I can always have it towed to a garage to get sorted out.
Just my 2 cents worth. Enjoy!

Thanks Dave.
yeah, I am just working on getting it to run smoothly and stop it from idling so high. I need a new muffler so it isn't so loud because the one I've got has rusted through. I also need a new fuel filter and a hose for some sort of air vacuum filter which will apparently get it to stop driving so rough at speeds under 25mph. We'll see how it goes. I will look into getting towing on my insurance. I might already have it.
Thanks again.

Would this muffler work? I know it is the same shape and such as the one I have now. I just don't know if it'll fit. I am sure it will, I just need a second opinion.

Check out FCP for Volvo parts.
A Bosal cat-back exhaust system goes for about $159.
