Nothing but problems, 240 wont turn over, only loud whirring noise when starting
Sorry to be back here with another issue so soon, but before i could even start digging into my window issue, about an hour ago, the 240 seems to have just quit out entirely. The car has power and all the interior lights and the dash lights come on when turning the key to ON, but going to start it, all i get back is a loud consistent whirring noise, kinda like a blower motor set on the highest speed or something spinning really really fast. No crank or anything. I'm at a total loss and I cant find this exact issue anywhere! The closest thing i found was the starter, but nothing concrete. I did get the car to catch a couple times and start like normal tho, but its always random when it wants to crank. This car is giving nothing but problems! Hopefully i can start getting some good luck back on this wagon and show some progress!

Are you hearing the starter spinning without the bendix engaging the ring gear? Do you understand how the starter works? The solenoid pulls the bendix (the gear in the starter) into the ring gear (on the flywheel/flexplate) and then there is a mechanical switch in the end of the solenoid that sends power to spin the starter (after the gear is engaged) - so if the starter is spinning and the bendix is not engaging the ring gear - either many teeth are missing from the ring gear (most common) or the bendix - Or the pivot point or throw out arm inside the starter is damaged.

I dont entirely know how the starter works, but the other day after letting car sit for a couple hours twice, the car started up perfectly fine. Only stopping for gas caused the car to not crank again. The weirdest thing tho is sometimes i feel something catch (like a clunk or a mild jolt in the car) once i stop turning the key, and when I feel this and turn the key again, it begins to crank and start once again. Could this be the teeth in the starter catching the flexplate?
