Hey guys, my overdrive occasionally shorts out and so I was going to install an IPD bypass plate, but I can't get the bolts for the solenoid loose. I've tried a couple times, even getting a stubby 12 mm flex wrench and no go. Any suggestions? I hate to take it to the mechanic for something so simple, but I'm running out of ideas. Thanks.

 

Are you using penetrating oil?

 

I haven't yet. I've tried spraying WD40 on it a couple times because that's all I had on hand. What do you suggest? I've never used penetrating oil before.

 

WD40 is garbage.

beerbobj, make sure it's not a bad connection where your relay plugs into the spade connectors. I thought i needed a new solenoid & it was just a bad connection.

 

if you can't find Blaster PB, look for Kroil.

WD40 has its place, but its not a penetrant, its a moisture repellant, basically kerosene and light oil.
