Hey I'm new to this forum but I've just bought this 89 240 dl and the speedometer and odometer aren't working I checked to see if that plastic gear was broken but it doesn't seem to be the problem but I did notice when I was taking it off some of the cables weren't connect does anyone have a diagram or maybe pictures of how the connections go? I would really appreciate it!

 

89 240 has an electronic speedo. The sender for it is in the differential.

Wiring to the speedo is obvious - it's the only thing that plugs into the back of the actual speedo.

"I did notice when I was taking it off some of the cables weren't connect does anyone have a diagram" - a word of caution - there is an extra unused wire on some cars behind the dash - if you plug it into a place you find on the instrument cluster - you will fry the speedometer! So - only connect what you disconnected!
