Oil Pressure Gauge/Sender Testing

Oil Pressure Gauge/Sender Testing
Hi Everyone,
I'm having an issue with a used 5 Bar oil pressure gauge and sender I installed in my '93 245.
Years ago I purchased a used 5 Bar oil pressure gauge and sender from Ebay for my '89 244. I decided to use the gauge, but bought a new sending unit.
Installed both in the '89 sedan no problems. Idles fine, runs about 4 Bar at highway.
Years later I got a '93 245 for parts, but decided to put her back on the road as a parts chaser. Rummaging around in an old box of misc Volvo parts, I found the old pressure gauge sender and a different 5 Bar gauge I got somewhere, so I installed them in the 245.
Oil pressure light works fine and at idle the gauge reads @ 2 Bar. As soon as the RPMs go up it goes straight to 5 Bar - almost pegged. If I pull up to a stop sign; idle and back down to 2 Bar. If I unplug the sending unit, the gauge does peg on the 5 Bar side. The sending unit has no numbers of any kind on it.
I'm wondering if perhaps all those years ago, the used sender was actually for a 3 Bar unit? How would I test both the gauge and the sender?
Thanks..
