Default Oil Pressure Sender

Is there an oil pressure sending unit on these cars? I'm thinking of putting some extra guages on my car oil pressure being one of them and just wanted to piggyback off the factory sender if there is one.

Oil pressure sensor is on the front facing side of the cylinder block, between the dipstick and the starter motor.

Correct.

However just use the provided sending unit from the gauge maker. I reccomend Autometer from Egauges and a pod from LOTEK ( Gaugepods.com ).

Be sure to use teflon tape over the threads. Oh and the adapter needed can be had from Egauges too.

If I swap out the OEM sensor for the one that comes with the guage am I going to loose my idiot light funtionality. Wouldn't want to not look at my guage and have my engine die.

There is another sending unit that looks like the oil pressure sending unit. What's that one for?

There might be another one Above it a little with a screw going through the center if that is it that is the knock sensor.

I'm not sure we're on the same page...

In the picture there are two sensor point on the front of the engine one directly above the breather box and the other is above by the starter motor which I understand to be the Oil Pressure sender.

Both of those sensors are the knock sensor.
The oil pressure sensor is lower and only has 1 wire going into the center of the sensor.
This is where it is located see pic.

Oh well look at that... that will be a lot easier to get at too.

What about the idiot light funtionality with the other sender?

I haven't really messed with installing the Guages Im not really sure.
Maybe you can find one that will work both.

On one of the links posted in the second or third reply above (I believe it was the Egauges.com link) I saw that VDO has a dual function sender where you can run their gauge as well as have the idiot light function.

Hope this helps
