Default OILY FILM on WINDSHIELD ?!

ANYONE know how to get this stuff off?

Where I used to live, I never had this problem--the windshield wipers worked like magic.

Now, maybe from pollen, or pollution, or something, I have a film on my windshield that I can never seem to get off by washing the car or even using Windex or something to clean off the windshield.

In fact the windshield is only a few months old--since I had a free replacement because of a defect in the previous one.

P.S. I'm saying that the windshield is fairly clear, but if I try to use the windshield wipers (even if I clean them off by hand beforehand) you can still see tons of streaks and it blurs the windshield instead of clearing the water properly.

I'm wondering if engine oil or coolant is messing up your windshield. On the inside, it often means a coolant leak from the heater core or hoses. On the outside, I'm thinking oil leak. Is your flame trap clean? Do you see signs of oil vapor in the engine compartment?

I had something like this happen to my 1999 s70 awd.

I found an oily residue on both sides of my windshield.

I washed it with water. Didn't work.

I tried my Ammonia free Windex, didn't work.

I then tried warm water and soap. Which did work. I did both the inside and out. I also rinsed it with a warm water logged towel and wiped it down inside and out.
