Default Overdrive light came on and lopey idle and stalling!

Hey there, so today I was driving along and I heard a soloniod noise of some sort and the OD light came on and is not responsive to the OD selector switch on the shift handle. Needless to say, the transmission won't go into overdrive any more. Do any of you have a suggestion of where to start with this problem?

Other issue is that sometimes the car won't start so easily, I have to crack the throttle for it to light off. Then when it starts it somtimes has a very lopey idle and occasionally stalls. I don't have a check engine light, but I do get a code that translates into "adjusting for lean/rich idle condition" when I pull codes (it's 2-3-2or 2-3-3 something like that, I'm not in the garage now)If I clear codes, go for a ride and come back and check again, I almost always have the code again.
Any suggestions here? I have cleaned the throttle body and all that...

Thanks in advance!
Scott

Default RE: Overdrive light came on and lopey idle and stalling!

Funny thing. I took my Volvo 740 GLE to a specialist mechanic, and he traced the preheater system, from the thermostatic valve, through the preheater hose, and the Mass Airflow Sensor. From what I understand, the thermostatic valve fails, because the preheater hose degrades, and blows the mass airflow sensor. In short, your exhaust return system is shot. My 740 keeps doing the same thing. The button doesn't work, and the overdrive light went on, and the car loops in idle, making almost a purring noise. Yours sounds like it's doing the exact same thing. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it bears looking into.
