My '89 740 brick was in the shop for A/C fix and upgrade to R134a. It had a broken hose.

Bad news. My evaporator is holed. Pshaw!! Guy quoted me about a $1K more.

Looks like I go to plan B. Buy parts in early summer and do the work myself. Evaporator sounds like a PITA to replace. Remove dashboard, etc.

You don't have to remove the dash.
You just have to remove the lower part of the Evap case.
But be very careful the cases crack.
