Is this part of the intake?
I was checking my idle air control valve and noticed something. i have a 82 245 wagon with B21f engine. Anyhow i took off the above mentioned and looked almost straight down between my intake manifold and saw a open ended rubber piece with all this white dirty goop stuck in it, i was able to pull off the the rubber piece and it looks like it was connected to a plastic opening which is also has alot of gunk inside of it. what is this? and was something else supposed to be connected to the wide side of the rubber piece? the thin side was on the plastic piece. Im sorry this is so vague , im just trying to discribe it the best i can.

RE: Is this part of the intake?
thanks for the responses , the hose isnt big and the part that i pulled off is a little bigger than the end that connects to the ignition coil but a similar shape. i didnt pull off any hoses, its just a rubber piece that has openings on both sides , the side facing down slid onto the plastic piece and the other side was facing up with the end wide open . its in a location that is very difficult to get at, any suggestions? are there hoses connecting to the plastic piece that this thing connects to?

I think you are describing the flame trap (PCV). A disconnected vaccum line may be causing your stall problems. The flame trap has 2 connections - a small vac line "after" the throttle plate and a large line "before" the throttle plate. Maybe post a picture. Check the VIN chart attached to see if you have the CI or LH fuel system.

RE: Is this part of the intake?
thanks for the help guys, im really stuck here. I have the B21F-9 which it appears to be the CI system and Chrysler ignition system. i looked up the part and the rubber piece looks to be part of a flame trap kit. The narrower end of the rubber piece fits over a plastic piece and the wide end isnt connected to anything.
How do i replace this or clean it? Also how do i get access to clean the throttle body? I do have a book but it doesnt tell me how to remove the throttle body or gain access to the flame/oil trap or whatever thats called. thanks again for your help.
