intake prob/part identification
N00b here hi, need help on this. i have a 97 non turbo volvo 850 gle 2.5l. i was tinkering around with the air box( okay i wanna build a CAI lol ) and realized that there was this hose sticking out of it. looks like it broke off or something. does anyone know what this is? im gonna attach pictures. im not sure if this is a problem or not cuz the car still runs
Can anyone identify the RED, BLUE, and GREEN arrows? the RED arrows the one the i think broke off
ALSO, i took a picture of my uncles 850 same non turbo model bought it the same time too. why is his airbox different? look at it, there are no hoses sticking out off it ( RED and BLUE arrow from above pic are not present in this airbox )
Side question:
What is this thing? theres a hose from the airbox sticking into it ( yellow arrow)
THANKS A BUNCH! CHEERS!
(sorry for the huge pics , thought it would add detail )
CHRIS

RE: intake prob/part identification
Not sure about your first two pictures, but the yellow arrow in the third picture is pointing to a cover. Under the cover you will find the IAC which is the Idle Air Control (that's what the tube with the green arrow goes to). You will also find the vac tree, and throttle body linkage.

thanks for the reply! what does the IAC do if you dont mind me asking? volvos airbox seems to be a tad bit more complicated than the japanese ones with all those tubes sticking out off it.

First picture is white hose runs to intake I believe forget exactly where. The one that is broke is supposed to run from there to the front lower portion of the air box to the valve where the fresh air comes in.
The big hose goes down to the air pump
3RD is the cover for the throttle cable and vaccum tree also the Idle motor.
