I just started working on 89 740 that was sitting since 2013. So far to get it back on the road I had to do both fuel pumps and filter had to replace the complete fuel sending unit due to rust. Replaced all four brake pads and rotors and tires . Then the brake booster went out when bleeding the brakes. So replaced booster and master cylinder to be sure. Also had to replace catalytic converter due to theft and had to have welding done. I have to replace fuel door hinge I am currently working on getting ac working. . Radio and speakers shot so that's another project. Replaced driver side main window switch. You may need to grease your sun roof as well. My sealed beam headlights are half full of water but work so trying to get replacements. Need new blower motor for climate control bc it sounds like it may be on it's way out. I hope to get the central locking and cruise control working. I purchased a bypass plate and ditched over drive on transmission. I will be replacing the transmission shifter bushings due to lever is very loose. I will change oil and transmission filter after I get the timing belt and water pump done . Also ordered brand brake light lens set for rear as the originals were brittle and faded. Will also be changing all belts and hoses, thermostat and plugs and wires. If you need any help finding parts I can tell you where I got mine.

It really depends on the condition of the car and how it lived during its vacation. But for sure address/examine the fuel system, and all fluids.
