Default Plugs are White, HI TEMPs Somewhere

hi all..

I have a 1992 VOLVO DL-240 B-230F, auto, A/C (never use it), 132,500 miles. Running great until recently. Here is my problem:

(a) all plugs are white, NGK BPR6ES, gaped .030

(b) temp started rising, heater turned ON, temp gauge back to 9 am. Several times this condition, compensator board not the issue;

(c) exh temps vary wildly: CYL1: 227dC, CYL2: 164dC, CYL3: 205dC, CYL4: 218dC. Temps taken with FLUKE 62 max+ and LASER ON (AVG mode)

(d) new MAF meter (BOSCH). old MAF measurements were OFF according to BENTLY manual;

(e) new OXY sensor, old one no continuity reading per BENTLY manual;

(f) new radiator (NISSEN), old one leaked at 15 lbs pressure;

Here are my questions:

(a) blown head gasket and how do you check?

(b) can computer be "nuts"?

(c) valves out-of-tolerance?

(d) injectors are "hosed"??. Loud clicking after new timing belt install. Timing is right on at 12d BTDC

I will tear into this today. Disappointed as a no rust car, all original. love to drive the "brick"

Thx...VOLVO DL-240s are the best

Default [CORRECTION] - only tips are white

a little more information on the above. Spark plug tips are white. Nose is clean w/ surrounding fragments of "black" carbon. Weird color, prior to NGK, BOSCH plug tips were pale "yellow".

I am sure I am burning anti-freeze. Oil is non milky, Compression is 150 lbs +/- 5 ea cylinder. So far no liquid (water/anti-freeze) squirting back w/ pressure test.

Any ideas...temp gauge shows 9am w/ rise and fallback to 9am.after 20-30 mins. New rad, no leaks at 20 lbs pressure (engine cold).

Love VOLVOs, really stumped this time. Gladly appreciate any help.

I'd say you have a head gasket issue even though the readings don't seem to support it... Why, I'd like to know.

Why are you sure you are burning anti freeze?

How does the car run?

So, the car runs hot, then not when you turn the heater on, is that right?
