I used to own a 1993 850GLT, until the head went bad on it, and now i am looking at possibly buying a 740GLE, and i was wondering, what are some common problems i may need to look for with these cars? And what Info can you guys provide me on this model?

No real problems beyond the obvious. Drivetrains are great, but these cars are getting older and many are trashed-interiors are falling apart, and neglected cars need TLC which might be pricey if you have shops do the work. I prefer 940s as they are newer and improved over the 740, and go until 1995.

 

It's true about the interior, I am looking at a 89 740 turbo and all the seats have giant gashes on them...I found a couple of them at the local yard but, man most of them are trashed...but I love the room you have in the engine bay. 850s are all tight quarters...

mine will cost 700 bucks but no tags since 08 and been sitting there...I love the challenge to fix it and make it run like a champ again but, I might loose my job in about 2 months...

 

Try and get 940 seats and put them in the 740-definite improvement and they bolt right in.
