Default Question about windshield wiper pulley.

Both my 86 and 87 240 wagons have had the driver side windshield wiper pulley fall off. I can't quite get it back on though, so I was wondering if there was a method of doing it that I have not yet discovered. From what I can tell, the metal bar sits on top of the pulley and the wire wraps around the pulley and connects to the middle of the arm, but I can't seem to pull it far enough to clip the metal cable back up. Am I going to have to pull the whole dash apart and disassemble the whole wiper arm to connect it, or is there a way to do it within just arms reach?

I've got an '84 240 that had the same problem... try as I did I couldn't get the cable back on... ended up taking it to a shop where I assume they removed the dash board entirely to repair it.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you because I had them fix a few other things at the time... Starter, drivers side window etc. The total bill came to about $550, but I can't say what each step cost.

Sorry I can't help, but you should be able to get an estimate from any Volvo-familiar shop as I understand it was a not uncommon problem for that age.
