Default Quick 240 PCV Question.

My oil filler cap bounces all around when I loosen it to check the PCV system. The oil separator box is new and everything is clean and connected I'm sure. I have checked it before and it stays down, but after I checked the trap today, I can't pass the PCV cap test. What's up?

When you pull the dipstick are you getting any blow by? If so and your flame trap and oil separator are new than you might have a worn motor (bad rings). Recheck your flame trap and hoses and make sure nothing is clogged, everything is installed properly etc. When you say new what does that mean? Flame trap should be changed or cleaned every other oil change. Most likely just something clogged etc. Good luck!

No, no blow by from the dipstick. And the oil separator box is new out of the box (replaced out of fear about 1,000 miles ago, that it was clogged) which it could be again. He is the thing though, after replacing the oil separator and flame trap, a few days of use went by, then I did the oil cap test because I forgot. Checked once and the oil cap bounced all around. Took all the PCV components off except the oil separator, (did not clean the trap as it was fine) and put it back together. This time the oil cap test passed and I left it alone.
Now that I checked the flame trap, which was clean as a whistle again, I can't get that oil cap to stay own and I know everything is connected because the difference between a connected and unconnected PCV piece is tremendous. Could my oil separator box be clogged again? Is the PCV system finicky, only creating a vacuum when necessary? Should I just not worry as long as oil is not seeping from the oil cap or dipstick tube (or seals)? Currently, I don't lose any oil, and I would like to keep it that way.

Thanks.
