Default Rear Cam Seal 93 240

Could somebody please tell me how to replace rear cam seal on 1993 240 Wagon. Does the valve cover have to come off? The head seems very close to firewall. Thank You. I seem to not be able to get a direct answer else where. Do it this way or do it that way. Thank You All Again, Richard

The best way would be to take off the Valve cover....and the only way I have done it....

I guess you could pop it out some how...like stab it with something needle like or a fishing hook...then slide the other in....but it sounds like too much trouble

Just take off the Valve cover......that's it.....
Highly recommend buying a gasket maker tube ( $3 dollars)...to spread on both sides of the matting surfaces....cylinder head and Valve cover....NOT ON THE GASKET
Specially on the corners where the gasket makes the loop...this is where the oil leaks happen....

will take you about....30 minutes tops....
hand tighten Valve cover bolts...or if you have a torque wrench....9ft-lbs...equals 108 in-lbs

if you take the valve cover off, you'll need a new valve cover gasket. Both cam seals should be replaceable without removing the valve cover.

if you use Volvo brand gaskets and seals, NO COMPOUND AT ALL IS NECESSARY.

if someone used a gasket compound before you, you have to clean ALL of it off before reassembling.
