It will be rewarding only if you properly adjust it, otherwise, it will become a bust if mis-adjustment of the cable causes burned up clutches The TV (throttle valve) oil acts against the pressure regulator to increase line pressure during high load operation, such as wide open throttle acceleration or carrying a load/towing. This, in conjunction with MTV (modulated throttle valve) oil also act against governor pressure on the shift valves to delay shifts to a higher RPM; at higher line pressure. Having a cable too loose will cause insufficient line pressure at high throttle positions, and early shifts causing the clutches to slip/burn. The old ford AOD's would burn the 3rd clutch in under 50 miles when the throttle cable plastic end would fail due to heat, causing the cable to become disconnected. GM had a TV boost check ball to maximize line pressure in the event of cable failure on the 4L60 (700R4) This prevented trans clutch/band burn up but made for some very uncomfortably harsh/late shifts! Either way, I wish for you the best of luck, and I know you will meet with success if you follow protocol as described in the manual!

Ey,
I had intermittent occasions when my 740 would die for anywhere between 1 to 5 minutes, then it would run fine for a while. Finaly it died completely last Summer - luckily I did get home.
My son has the same car, I swapped everything , computer, ignition coil, ignition control,,,,etc. Finaly I isoated the problem to the CPS sensor., as that was the only thing that I did not swap between the cars. After replacing it, the car has been running the best ever. Besides the random staling, I used to have another symptom, the tachometer needle used to be jumpy, now with the new sensor it does not shake at all. Hope this will help someone.
