remove lower exhaust header heat shield?

remove lower exhaust header heat shield?

Is it ok to remove it? Mine is all rattling. I don't have the preheat hose installed. Thanks in advance.

Well, especially without a hose, it serves no purpose-can remove it. But, in California, for one, it'd not pass smog.
