While replacing my 940's timing belt I tried to replace the cam gear oil seal and bent every pick and hook tool that I tried without any success
How aggessive can you get without damaging something else? What are your favorite tools to do this job?
thanks, bob
Much better way is to just remove the cam retainer that holds that seal in place. No scratching, no frustration... just have to remove the valve cover first.
well, you can slip it in between the seal and the cam shaft and since you are getting rid of the seal anyways, go to the side and pull it out towards you. When you go to put the new one on I like to pack the pack of the seal with grease so it kinda holds that little spring in better.
