removing dashboard on '89 740

HELP, I have to change the vaporizer on my 1989 740 wagon. repair shop said close to $1,000 to repair. I pooped and want to do it myself. They said you need to take out dash.

Anyone ever see in pics how you do that??

What does a Volvo 'vaporizer' do? Are you sure this mechanic wasn't pulling your leg? And the only reason to take out the dash in 740 is to change the dash...
