I want to pull the roof rack off of my '90 240 wagon in order to buff the paint and to try to repair part of the rack. The rack is held on by screws. Is what the screws fasten to permanently fixed to the underside of the roof, or will they fall off and I'll be screwed? [:@]

Conversely, if I wanted to add a Volvo roof rack to my son's '83 wagon, I assume I would have to drop the headliner to get to the underside of the roof?

 

I believe the roof racks were dealer options, and not installed from the factory. There are rubber threaded inserts that are installed from the roof, not from the inside. They are easily replaced, and should be if you remove the rack.

 

Go with thule car racks ..Junk yards are loaded with the gutter types ...I have 7 on my 240 Wagon 3 on my Sedan wagon takes a full sheet of plywood ..they were less than 5.00 each .even the ones with locks .pop them off ..doug
