Default rusted rocker panel replacement

know of any instructions, videos, etc on replacing a rusted rocker panel in a Volvo 240. I can weld and replaced the rocker panels in a truck years ago, but that was body on frame. I’m concerned about doing this on a unibody car. Can I just cut out the rocker and weld in the new one, or do I need to brace and support the car in some way? Thanks for your help.

once the rockers have started rusting out, odds are theres a lot more rust hiding where you can't see it.

240 bodies are a dime a dozen, find a new car, preferably from California(*) or Arizona/New Mexico or whatever where stuff doesn't rust.

re: unibody, the skin isn't structural, so I don't think you need to worry about that.

(*) the immediate coast areas of central and northern California CAN be rust inducing, places like Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula, Pacifica just south of San Francisco, etc. however, 99% of the state, 25 year old cars are rust free if they've been reasonably well maintained.
