I drive a 244GL and recently, while driving I can hear a loud screeching sound that seems to be coming from my wheels. When the car is driving at very slow speeds, the sound is hardly noticable, but as soon as I'm over 20kph the screeching ensues. I've checked my brake pads, which seem to be fine, however, noticed that when the car is jacked up and I spin the wheels, I'm still hearing a screech. Not exactly too sure where I go from this point,

Actually to be honest, sounds more like a scraping than a screech

 

Could this be a caliper hanging up a little bit?

 

Some pads have a little metal raised piece on them, its know as a squealer. when the pads get to a certain thickness the squealer touches the disc, and makes this noise to inform you to change your pads. looking at the pads in general may indicate that they still have a few thousand miles left on them which may be the case.

 

Also there is a splash plate at the back of the disc, which stops crap getting on the disc.
These sometimes corrode at the fixing bolt causing the plate to rub against the disc
