Default Second time rebuilding my turbo... Should I get a bigger compressor wheel?

Hey guys,

My turbo is making noises again and I have been piecing together parts to rebuild it again. I have the Garrett T3 (TB0363 to be exact, 466672-9002) and I was wondering if anyone has upgraded this at all? Maybe a T04B compressor wheel?

I am a machinist and used to work for a turbocharger company. Still have friends there that can hook me up with parts. Anyone out there with any results with compressor wheel swaps? Or even TD04 swaps? I know those ones have BOV on the compressor housing but I probably can make it work.

Also any BF23T guys just up the boost and get any decent power without blowing these motors up? I have some eBay style boost controllers I am thinking about putting on.

I researched just turning up the boost and what i found was that it is not a good idea. everything said its agood way to blow up the engine if you dont know exactly what you are doing

the guys on turbobricks regularly turn on the boost, using a suitable boost controller to keep it sane. heck, volvo even sold the B230FT engines in some cars (780T, 760T) with a Turbo+ mod that gave about 3-5 PSI more boost for max 30 seconds, I think this raised the HP from 160 to around 200.

When I rebuild the turbo, I was just going to set the wastegate actuator to 10 psi instead of 7psi. As for a bigger wheel, I think I will just keep the original one as long as it's not too damaged.
