My service light has been coming on recently...

it will come on for a few minutes after starting up, hot or cold and then go off.

and I think its coming on for more than one issue, because

Other times it will come on, but there will be a beeping / chirping sound along with it. It will sound about 10 times maybe and then stop, but the service light will remain on a little while longer.
Its not the lights on or door open chime... its different.

Both are a mystery to me, searches have yielded nothing.

The car operates just fine. The idle isnt as smooth as Id like sometimes... it will bound from 5-700 rpms very subtly.

 

You need to determine if it is the service engine light, which is simply a reminder to change oil...or whether it is the check engine light indicating codes have been set.

 

Ahh, okay... it is the service light and not the CEL.


can I reset it? I just changed the oil this week...

Any idea on the beeping though? Its relatively quiet and @ 2 second intervals...

 

There should be a rubber plug on the instrument panel. Pry it out carefully, depress the plunger behind it, it resets the Service Light for another 5K miles. Replace the plug, careful not to shove it too far, a delicate task...

Are you sure the car had no some aftermarket alarm at some point? Or may be an aftermarket stereo? That would be my guess as the source of the beeping.
