Shift Indicator Lamp (SIL) coming while in 5th gear at highway speeds
Guess the thread title says it all. The SIL will come on every once in awhile while in 5th gear at highway speeds. Tap the clutch and the light goes out. A couple miles down the road the SIL will light up again, randomly.
I do "float" the gears up, but don't have the confidence to "float" them down when slowing or coming to a stop like I use to with my long gone Ranger or Dakota. Unfortunately, I had a couple automatics in between my Dakota and 240 and just don't feel comfortable floating gears down anymore.
Could the lack of using the clutch during acceleration make the computer think that I am in a lower gear than I really am? Like the computer is counting the times I use the clutch to shift up and just trying to remind me that I'm "suppose" to use the clutch as the owner's manual says to.
