Default Shift linkage adjustments, '90 740 GLE

Hi guys. I just purchased a 740 GLE 16 Valve that had "no reverse". Upon inspection I found that the shift linkage under the car seems to be out of whack. It looks like there is 2 adjustment nuts and a missing bushing or bushings that need to be replaced.

I need to know how to properly adjust these as well as replacing any missing bushings (Good place to buy them?). Hopefully someone can help me on this so I can get the car on the road. It drives, but all the gears are messed up.

Oh, and I believe this has the AW72L transmission.

Thanks!

You probably need two of these bushings in the linkage.
Shifter Linkage Bushing

Unless you or somebody else previously marked the linkage it's largely trial and error when it comes to adjusting.
You may not need to adjust the linkage at all, as the missing bushing(s) result in a significant amount of play in the shifter.

Thanks for the info.

I actually ordered the $7.95 bushing kit from FCP Groton that has all the bushings I need. But yeah, the shifter in general is very sloppy... none of the PRND21 positions feel right at all.

Now to post in the wanted section for a dome light... I almost had a fire. I was wondering why the Dome fuse was out... put one in and heard a zap and smoke started pouring out of the dome light. Found that the little circuit board on the dome light was completely fried... you can tell it's been like that for a while.

What color do you need?
I believe there's a 740 in my local junk yard.

It's a light tan or off white, but a gray or black one would do fine.

Anyone have any information on how to adjust the linkage? I just want to make sure it's right after replacing the bushings so I don't have to get back under there.
