I have volvo 1989 740gl non-abs should i leave the car on while bleeding and what would you say is the best way to bleed?

If you mean leave the engine running this is not necessary.

Bleed in the following order: Right rear; Left rear; Right front; Left front.

Each front caliper has two bleed screws, and each rear caliper has one.
