Default Shudder at low speed 240 Wagon

Hi
I have a 92 240 Wagon that has recently developed a bad shudder when braking, and to a lesser extent accelerating. When I use the brakes above 20 MPH I don't notice any shudder, but when I get to 20MPH I get a bad shudder that shakes the entire car. It seems to originate somewhere in the back and move forward as I slow down. It drops off between 20MPH and 10MPH, but peaks again below 10MPH. I get a lesser shudder when accelerating until I get above 20MPH. I have recently replaced the front rotors and pads, and the back pads. The back rotors looked OK so I haven't replaced them yet. I also did the ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, and all of the other bushings in the front end. The bushings for the back end are on order. I just got new front tires and an alignment as well. The shudder doesn't present in the steering wheel it is more like the entire car is shaking.

Any ideas what this could be? I looked at the motor mounts and transmission mount (appear OK), but I may replace them if the rear bushings don't fix it. Any other ideas I can try while waiting on IPD Santa are appreciated.

Thanks

Check your drive shaft u-joints. More than likely one is frozen.

I was able to rig a go-pro under the car last night and shoot some video. The angle of the differential was moving up and down a good bit (10-15 degrees). I think the bushings in the torque rods are shot letting the diff move around too much. I have the bushings on order and will replace to see if that fixes it. I also have the ones for the rear trailing arm, and the anti sway bar. As much as it is moving around it may have damaged a drive shaft U-joint as well, but one thing at a time.

Thanks

Trust me. It's your u-joints on the drive shaft. Can't say you don't need new torque rod bushings as well but the root cause is the u-joints. The grease dries up in them and the freeze up and bind.
