Default Spring Clamps

Here is the situation, I dont like the ride height of my car, it detracts from the performance. Like most people, I would rather do things the easy way and the cheap way. Has anyone used spring clamps successfully on a 940? is it safe? is it legal?

Sure you can, sure others have done it, but it isn't going to positively impact your performance in any way and safety... well... it depends on how you define "safe". Your car will handle better up high and stock than a couple of inches lower with clamped springs.

Thanks, I will just get the $250 IPD lowering springs. Do you know if I will need an adjustable panhard rod if I lower the car? Its already loose in the rear, even after new struts, and all new bushings in the back and new struts, bushings, ball joints, and a steering rack in the front.

I have TME springs. you dont "need" an adjustable panhard bar, but great to have once you get bigger rims or go lower than 2"

also have Bilstein HD's

Spring clamps are very dangerous. I have seen first hand springs that have failed and clamps that have failed.
You are wise to buy springs, if money is tight, troll some forums, second hand stuff always pops up, be ready to pounce!
Otherwise, I'd rather see someone cut off a coil than use spring clamps.

Regards, Andrew.

You don't need an adjustable panhard rod if you aren't lowering the car that much, it would not be a necessity with the lowering springs from IPD as they lower the car less than 2". If you've already done all of the bushings and it still handles loosely, be sure all bolts are properly torqued and your tires are correctly inflated. Also, do you have aftermarket sway bars installed? If not, they are generally a more cost effective performance improvement than new springs, a good first step on a limited budget.
